| Some history of the Great German Scola |

Built in 1528-29, it's located on the top floor of a adjacent building to the Canton Synagogue, above the Jewish museum and from the outside, it's not easily distinguishable from the apartments around. Space was limited, and according to Jewish law it is forbidden to have any building taller than the Synagogue - hence the strange attic location.
